DeviceLock Endpoint DLP Suite v7.2 to enhance data leak prevention for social media and cloud services
DeviceLock 7.2 will protect organizations against data leakage through such popular services as Skype™, Google Docs™, Dropbox™, and Tumblr™, without disrupting their normal use for business communications and processes. In addition, DeviceLock’s Endpoint DLP Suite software will provide unprecedented data leak prevention for customers using the MAPI protocol by enforcing granular contextual controls and filtering of the content of native Microsoft Exchange email communications directly on endpoint computers.
The DeviceLock Endpoint DLP Suite addresses the needs of organizations that require a simple and affordable approach to preventing unauthorized data loss from users’ laptops or desktop computers. From centralized Microsoft Windows Active Directory® Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and companion consoles, DeviceLock DLP Suite administrators can dynamically manage distributed agents that enforce centrally defined policies that allow, block and/or audit data flows. These policies can take into account such criteria as: user, data type, interface, flow direction, state of encryption, date and time, textual content, data size, protocol, and more. These simplified rules can be numerically conditioned, use contextual boundaries, and be joined together by Boolean operators into more complex filters as desired. The complete package delivers an unprecedented level of granular functionality among endpoint DLP solutions in the same, easily affordable price range.
“Organizations are really taking advantage of the marketing and advertising power that social media can provide as well as the convenience, on-demand scalability and reliability of cloud-based applications and services,” said Vince Schiavo, chief executive officer, DeviceLock. “This can be a double-edged sword, though, if private, inaccurate or untimely content gets out to millions of followers. You simply cannot un-ring that bell. Since this type of data breach often emanates from an endpoint PC that wasn’t properly managed by DLP controls or a laptop that travelled outside of secure network perimeter controls, DeviceLock Endpoint DLP provides a way of isolating who can post updates and block certain content coming from a user’s PC or laptop to well over a dozen of the most popular social media and other cloud-based services regardless of where the machine is at the time.”
Also with the 7.2 release, DeviceLock is fulfilling a popular customer request to provide SNMP and email alerts in real time. Rather than relying solely on third-party SIEM or log management solutions like ArcSight™, Splunk™, LogLogic™, LogRhythm™ or RSA Envision™ to provide alerts based on DeviceLock events, this feature allows administrators who may not have that type of infrastructure to be made immediately aware of potential DLP policy violations at managed endpoints with DeviceLock’s standalone solution. This gives DeviceLock customers the flexibility of either integrating seamlessly with their existing log management and SIEM infrastructure or simply using the new DeviceLock built-in alerting capabilities.
DeviceLock’s DLP offering is designed to effortlessly scale from small to large installations and simplify DLP deployment and management such that it can usually be performed by in-house Windows administrators using the Microsoft Active Directory’s Group Policy Management Console. DeviceLock also supports LDAP, workgroup, and standalone Windows endpoint implementations. Version 7.2 is expected this summer. Pricing will be based on the number of endpoint devices the customer needs to license. Existing customers who have a current support subscription for earlier versions of the software will be eligible for a free upgrade.
